Celebrating the American Cheese Industry
May 01 2021
Did you know there is an entire month dedicated to the celebration of American cheeses? May is American Cheese Month, a celebration of North America’s delicious and diverse cheeses, and the farmers, cheesemakers, retailers, cheesemongers, and chefs who bring them to your table. Originally held every October, American Cheese Month was started by the American Cheese Society in 2011. It was later changed to the month of May in 2019 by the ACE (American Cheese Education) Foundation Board of Directors in an effort to better support cheesemakers and retailers.
Each year American Cheese Month seeks to raise awareness about the quality and diversity that is offered by the American cheese community, while prompting local foods, family farms, and ,of course, great cheese. Join in the celebration by supporting American cheesemakers in your own way, from cooking with your favorite local cheese to visiting a local cheese shops to try a new artisan cheese.
