Behind every great creamery is an excellent cheesemonger selling our cheese...or should we say behind every great counter there is an excellent cheesemonger selling our cheese!  In our fifth installment of this series, we introduce you to cheesemonger Megan Lewis.

 

What's your name and where do you work?

My name is Megan Lewis, and I am the Cheesemonger and Owner at Milk Made Catering in Fargo, ND!  We are a cheese-centric catering company that focuses on cheese platters, grazing tables, our Oh Fer Cute-erie Cones and selling cheese out of our cheese shop on wheels, Bessie. 

 

What is your background in the cheese industry?

I got my start in the industry behind a cheese counter 7 years ago.  Since then I have had the opportunity to create a successful and fun cheese centric business, travel all over the country for cheese-related fun, and represent some of the best makers by being a storyteller for their cheeses. 

 

What does the Minnesota cheese industry mean to you?

Being from North Dakota, we didn't have any artisan cheesemakers at the time when I started the business. The Minnesota cheese community welcomed me and made me feel at home.  It is amazing to have such wonderful cheeses (and makers) so close who are willing to help support others in the industry.  I have learned by hand how to make cheese from some, and learned passion for making from others.

 

What is your favorite Caves of Faribault cheese and what do you love to pair with it? Or, alternately, do you have a favorite recipe you use our cheese in?

I love St. Pete's Select.  It's been one of our best sellers from the beginning, and it has gained quite a cult-like following with our customers.  I love serving it with Effie's Oatcakes with Velvet Bees Honey Butter.  It is so d**n good!
