The Woman Behind Jeffs' Select Chocolate Chip Cookies

We all know cookies love milk, but turns out, they also love cheese, too.  Meet the monger who inspired a delicious holiday recipe that adds some cheesy cheer to a traditional favorite.

 

Janee Muha, a cheesemonger, producer advocate, blogger and social media personality, is used to being on the go.  As the face behind The Mobile Monger, Janee can typically be found traveling to connect with those in the trade, documenting her encounters on her blog of the people and the cheeses she meets.  So when the coronavirus grounded her plans, she got creative.

 

On Zoom, she reached out to her cheese chums for a virtual visit.  “It’s nice to find a way to connect while still scattered across the country,” said Janee.  She also hosted a Makers Series, featuring different cheesemakers and how they are weathering the pandemic.  “It’s wild how much time has passed and how it’s about time to revisit those conversations,” she noted.

 

But being stuck at home can result in something deliciously magical, as Janee explained.  She recalled last holiday season, when she traveled to Austin, Texas and stumbled across a café offering chocolate chip cookies made with bits of cheddar cheese.  “I happened to have some Jeffs’ Select Gouda in my fridge and a hankering for some cookies,” she remembered.  And a Gouda-filled chocolate chip cookie was born.  Janee struck gold with this blend of flavors, taking this holiday staple to the next level.  “I knew the Jeffs’ would be perfect because its sweetness would lend a butterscotchy, caramel note to the cookies.”
