Roses are Red, the Best Cheese is Blue

We’ve got some chocolate and cheese pairings for you!

February 07 2022

You’ve got the chocolate, but this year, consider skipping the stereotypical bouquet of roses or stuffed animal and instead fly like Cupid to your favorite cheese counter for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift!  Nothing says “I love you” like a cheese board paired with chocolatey treats.  To help you make your way through the candy aisle and cheese counter, here are some suggestions that will make your sweetie swoon.

AmaBlu + Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

Nut butters, chocolate and Blue cheese.  This is one of our favorite combos that never goes out of style.  While we know there are much fancier chocolates, we love our AmaBlu with a heart shaped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.  The sweetness in the milk chocolate lends itself to the sweetness in the Blue cheese, helping to cut the mild acidity in our flagship Blue while the smooth texture of the peanut butter highlights AmaBlu’s richness.

AmaGorg + Hershey Hugs

Though we are huge fans of the OG Hershey Kisses, these Hershey Hugs add another layer of goodness to our AmaGorg chocolate pairing.  These little bundles of joy are the delectable milk chocolate in every Hershey Kiss hugged by sweet white crème.  The addition of the sweet white creme adds a bit more of a pleasant sugary flavor that pairs perfectly with the hint of sweetness in our AmaGorg.

St. Pete’s Select + Hershey’s Chocolate Brownie with a Chocolate Honey Glaze

Now, we usually don’t stray far out from the candy aisle for these pairings, but chocolate brownies seemed to be the appropriate pairing for such a grand holiday celebrating love.  We made a Hershey’s Dark Chocolate Brownie and a homemade Chocolate Honey Glaze to zhuzh it up a bit.  This decadent dessert added the right amount of sugary notes to our piquant St. Pete’s Select and the texture matched flawlessly with the creamy, rich texture of the cheese.  To combat the velvety mouthfeel of this pairing, we suggest you bust out the Champs or whatever bubbly wine you like best!

Felix + Dark Chocolate Caramels

Felix is the epitome of luxury.  Its fudge-like texture, sharp complexities and lingering sweetness calls for a chocolate pairing that is just as lavish.  That’s where Dark Chocolate Covered Caramels come into play.  The robust cacao flavor with notes of roasted coffee help highlight the nuttiness in this cave-aged Blue while the caramel highlights the sweeter finish.  It’s an impeccable pairing to finish off your sweet and savory Valentine’s Day cheese board.
