Take A Dip!

Warm Cheesy Dips for Those Chilly Days Inside

February 02 2023

With the weather being chilly and hibernating at home being in full effect (well, here in MN anyway), we thought we’d talk about some of our favorite warm cheesy dips to eat while vegging out at the house.  ‘Cause if you are going to be stuck inside, there had better be some cheesy snacks.

“Blue Cheese Baby”

There is nothing like a warm, cheesy dip to snack on during Friday movie night or while cheering on the Timberwolves or Wild on game day.  In true Caves of Faribault fashion, we like to keep most of our dips Blue-centric.

One of our favorite recipes is the Spicy Molten Blue Cheese Dip from NY Times Cooking using our AmaGorg.  This savory dip has a nice kick to it, and the sweetness in the AmaGorg mellows out the fiery flavor that the hot sauce adds to this dip.

Speaking of spice, check out this Buffalo Chicken Dip from The Stay at Home Chef.  We love to use our St. Pete’s Select and Cherubic Gouda in this recipe.  This dip is high on heat thanks to the addition of your favorite hot sauce, but the sharpness in the St. Pete’s Select and the fatty, rich sweetness in the Cherubic cools it down.  Serve with tortilla chips and a side of pickled jalapenos and sour cream to create a nacho vibe.

If you think spice isn’t so nice, no worries.  You don’t need heat to eat Blue cheese.  This Bacon and Blue Cheese Dip  from Host the Toast is the best way to stay warm, while cutting the heat during Sunday snack time. We love to add our original Blue, AmaBlu, for its piquant flavors and mellow aftertaste.

“When I Dip, You Dip, We Dip”

For those of you that are shy around Blue cheese, we have some non-Blue recipes for you! Contrary to popular belief, we do not have to use Blue cheese every time we cook!

One hearty snack for an all-day veg sesh is the Reuben Dip from the Food Network.  We use our St. Helga’s Swiss for this recipe, and like to throw in a tablespoon or so of horseradish.  This dip is so filling that we suggest serving it for lunch with pumpernickel or rye bread, pretzels and veggies.  Everybody loves appetizers for meals!

If you are looking for a way to increase some of your vegetable intake while getting cheesy, the Warm Spinach-Artichoke Dip from Food & Wine is just the ticket!  We use our Cherubic Gouda in this recipe, and substitute in our St. Helga’s Swiss for the mozzarella and the parm.  This creamy spinach dip is the ideal dip for a day lounging on the couch while catching up with a good book.

Our last favorite dip for cold nights is our Everything (But the Bagel) Cheese Dip.  Last year we hit you with an Everything Bagel Cheese Ball on social media, and this year we decided to take it a step further.  This creamy dip is jam-packed with flavor.  We suggest serving with bagel chips to coordinate the “breakfast” theme of this delightful snack!
